The theme for the 28th American Peptide Symposium, “At the Peptide Frontier”, held at The Whistler Conference Centre, Whistler, BC, Canada, conveyed that this Symposium would feature emerging peptide research at the forefront of chemical, structural, materials, biological, pharmaceutical and medical science. Co-Chairs were David Chenowith from the University of Pennsylvania, and Robert Garbaccio, Head of Discovery Chemistry at Merck.
Professor Laura L. Kiessling from Massachusetts Institute of Technology opened the symposium with her keynote lecture “Peptide-Glycan Interactions in Immunity.” The closing keynote lecture, “Pirating Biology to Probe and Modulate the cell Surfaceome,” was performed by Professor Jim Wells, University of California at San Francisco.
